Rittal – Enclosure air conditioning Blue e+

The Power and Signal connectors from the OMNIMATE® product range fully demonstrate their strengths in Blue e+, the new generation of cooling equipment from enclosure expert Rittal

Rittal – Enclosure air conditioning Blue e+

With an average energy saving potential of up to 75 percent, our new cooling units don’t just allow us to make a significant contribution to climate protection. Blue e+ also helps us to combat ever-increasing energy prices,” explains Jörg Knetsch, Project Manager for Research and Development at Rittal, a leading provider of enclosure air conditioning. “A prerequisite for the flexible operation of our equipment in all standard networks around the world was compliance with international regulations such as UL and CSA.”

The components used need to meet both device-specific requirements and adhere to international regulations. This is why Rittal relies on Weidmüller for the selection and design of the connection system used in its air conditioning units with an input voltage range of 110 V (single-phase) to 480 V (three-phase). A solution based on the OMNIMATE® Signal and Power connectors BLF/SL-SMT 5.08 HC and BVF/SVF 7.62 HP made from the specially developed material. Wemid enabled all the relevant standards to be met, such as IEC 60335-1.

BVF 7.62 HP impresses with its one-handed operation and automatic latching. The powerful panel feed-through terminal block SVF 7.62 HP can even cope with thick enclosure walls.

More than standards compliance

Quick device installation and commissioning were also a prerequisite. For Michael Sturm, Industry Development Manager at Weidmüller, this was no problem at all, “Automatic locking enables our Power SVF panel feed-through terminals to connect devices in the shortest possible time - even with a wall thickness up to 16 mm. Our Power and Signal connectors are also equipped with the proven Weidmüller PUSH IN technology. This allowed us to put together the perfect package for Rittal, providing compliance with standards as well as reducing installation work and saving time.”

The BVF/SVF Power connectors provide many big advantages. The central screw flange not only provides for one-handed operation, it also saves space and ensures high load-carrying capability.

Support throughout the entire process

The thoroughly convincing results are due not least to the intensive cooperation and tests carried out at the accredited Weidmüller laboratory and independent testing institutes such as VDE. “Weidmüller helped us to design an optimal solution during the product development process, which we were then able to successfully implement. A great service,” recalls Jörg Knetsch.
